Paediatric Osteopathy in Ballina

Growth in the uterus and the passage of birth can put particular stresses on the baby’s body, which might affect their comfort, growth, feeding, digestion, breathing and development.
Sometimes the forces of a long or difficult labour, or a delivery requiring intervention such as forceps, ventouse or a c-section delivery, can be traumatic for babies. This might result in difficulties with head or neck position, which can lead to bub showing a preference to turn their head in one direction or difficulty feeding on one side. These physical findings along with problems with feeding, digestion and settling are often reasons for babies to be brought for osteopathic care.
Osteopathic treatment of babies involve a thorough history taking, assessment and gentle hands on treatment. We do not use any manipulation (‘cracking’) techniques on babies.
Conditions we may be able to help with:

Unsettled babies
