Cupping in Ballina

Cupping is a therapy in which a jar is attached to the skin surface to cause local congestion through the removal of the air in the jar. Jo uses a mechanical suction cup operated by a mechanical pump (no flame or heat is used in this process so there is no risk of burning). The area cupped often becomes flushed and can turn a deep purple colour, that is painless, and may last for a week or so. Cupping works on myofascial trigger points and by returning fluid to tight fascia, restoring its gel-like, fluid quality to allow easier gliding.

Cupping can be used for the treatment of:

  • Musculoskeletal pain and discomfort
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sporting injuries

Cupping is offered by Osteopath Jo Meon.
